A Little about PEI ... a Verdant Island Paradise

PEI is the smallest province in Canada having a population of 140,000. We receive up to a million visitors each year and have a healthy tourism industry. The island is quite agrarian and features rolling hills and green, grassy vistas. We have a long coastline due to our many inlets and other waterways and as a result there is a large amount of reasonably priced waterfront PEI real estate.

The PEI real estate market is a consistent performer. PEI real estate offers great opportunities to get into home ownership due to PEI real estate being some of the least expensive in the country. While the PEI real estate market affords the novice real estate purchaser an easy access stepping stone to owning real estate there are still many higher-end PEI real estate properties available.

This is a home with a great history. Property in "As is where is condition". Property can be sold to move if desired. Howatt Properties is a historic Willowshade Farm, also knows as Howatt's Fruit Farm, rests amid its picturesque setting overlooking the mouth of the Tryon River and the Northumberland Strait. Generations of Islanders fondly remember remember purchasing their berries, apples, vegetables, and preserves here, as well as posing for wedding pictures int he sheltered gardens among 100 year old trees. CBC listeners may recall the segment on Mainstreet: "Tales of Willowshade Farm" by Betty Howatt. The Howatts have a long history in the community. The first Howatts settled in Tryon in 1783. The larger farmhouse dates back to the early 1800s. In 1920, following Everett King Howatt's return from war, the family built another home across the road they affectionately named "Perfection." It was built by local carpenter, Ed Sharkey, who was responsible for building many of the homes in the area. These older homes are a grand piece of Island history, and the lots, with their mature trees and water views, contain plenty of charm and character.
